Okay, so to title this blog "before and after" is a little bit of a tease/false advertising. I only did it for SEO value. I mean, technically, there is PLENTY of "before" photos throughout this site. And this is technically, "after".

I was reluctant to post any photos because progress was made relatively swiftly. And we're very close to done. But we're still waiting on shelving solutions to magically materialize (thanks COVID), waiting for plantation shutters, and we had to wait three long months for a custom vanity to arrive from Louisiana which STILL needs customization (and that my husband is working on now).

These photos aren't glamorous They show us using the (yet unfinished) space as a real family.

As you can see below, the cat is digging the new floors.

And the boys are taking advantage of almost double the living space where they can lay their Brio train tracks for what seems like miles! (art on walls, rugs, etc is still a work in progress).

But let's talk bathrooms. Having a second bathroom was the entire inspiration and motivation for this construction project. I was tired of sharing space with three boys! Here is the newly expanded and totally refinished GUEST bathroom (or boy's bathroom). Designed and built from the ground up! Every detail carefully curated by me. Still need to scrape the tile and finish the grout with sealer; and also the pony wall needs a matching wood cap (in progress).

OMG, can we talk about these AMAZING wall prints?!? Zeppelin Bay on Etsy is where I found them. I fell in ABSOLUTE ❤️ with them and ordered the set right away. I had them printed locally because I wanted a certain color paper. And then I bought three frames at Hobby Lobby where I also picked up those floating shelves!

And then there's the master bath - le pièce de résistance!

I am so grateful for the craftsmanship of B&M Glass - they KILLED IT! I love taking a shower in this thing. It is so elegant. The frameless shower door concept is amazing. The bathroom we designed is literally a better bathroom than I have experienced at any 3, 4 or 5-star hotels I have stayed in in the last 10 years and B&M Glass is a huge part of that. Kevin and his crew are true professionals. HIRE THEM!

My fave part of this new master bath is the decor. I love how well the wall decor ended up pairing with the reclaimed shipwreck wood vanity from Louisiana which paired with the tile, etc., etc. The Spotted Octopus on Etsy is where I found the whale prints. I bought the frames at Michaels.

In the water closet I hung an old print I had of kids storming a pirate vessel. I think I originally bough this print off art.com and had it framed by Aaron Brothers. I've had it since 2002. And it finally found its perfect resting place.
